Olivia Rodrigo at Kia Forum
Los Angeles, August 17, 2024
On August 16, Olivia Rodrigo brought her sold-out, four-night residency at the Kia Forum to a spectacular close.
The night kicked off with anticipation as candles melted slowly onscreen, signaling the imminent start of the show. Fans of Rodrigo erupted in cheers as the screen lit up with an intro video showing Olivia running through hotel aisles, finally arriving and knocking on a mysterious door. As the video faded out, Olivia and her band burst onto the stage with the high-energy opener, "bad idea right?," instantly igniting the crowd.
Over the next hour and a half, Rodrigo delivered a dynamic set, seamlessly blending emotional ballads with her signature angsty anthems. A standout moment came when she performed "logical" and "enough for you" while perched on a crescent moon that hovered above the audience, creating an intimate experience for her fans. Olivia orbited the venue on her crescent moon, waving at each section of the sold-out arena. The energy in the venue was palpable throughout the night as fans belted out every lyric, from the heart-wrenching "drivers license" to the raw intensity of "jealousy, jealousy" and "brutal."
Olivia took time to interact with her fans, creating memorable moments throughout the night. In a particularly touching gesture, she led the crowd in singing "Happy Birthday" to a boy in the audience, making the evening even more special for one lucky fan. She also accepted gifts from the crowd, including a t-shirt that featured the word "vampire" alongside an image of Olivia and Edward Cullen from Twilight, which she playfully acknowledged.
For the encore, Olivia returned to the stage with a megaphone in hand, leading the audience through a fiery rendition of "good 4 u," a tour highlight. She then concluded the night with "get him back!" as confetti rained down from the ceiling, the lights flashing until they turned off completely, leaving the crowd in awe of what had just unfolded. Her highly successful tour in North America continued with a two-night residency at the Intuit Dome on the 21st and 22nd, delivering to her fans even more unforgettable moments with special guest, Chappell Roan.
